Environment: Workshop on Urban Air Quality Management
Systems EUROCITIES contributed to a Workshop on Urban Air Quality Management Systems, which took place in Rhodes, Greece, on 4 April 2002. The SATURN/EURASAP Workshop was part of the EURO-SUSTAIN 2002 Conference, organised by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The aim of the Workshop was to study the capabilities of the urban air quality management systems, and to discuss the current developments throughout Europe as well as to how to improve the dissemination of information. Eva Baños De Guisasola, EUROCITIES Policy Officer for the Environment Committee, presented the INTEGAIRE project (Integrated Urban Governance and Air Quality Management in Europe), which started officially on 1 March 2002. There were also presentations on the following topics: urban air quality assessment requirements arising from the new EU directives (TNO, The Netherlands); a modeling system for ozone exposure assessment (Brescia University, Italy); OPUS-AIR (Aristotle University); integrated urban air quality management and information systems (Aristotle University); a tool to evaluate the air quality impact of industrial plants (Complutense University of Madrid); health effects caused by urban air pollution for the transport system plan scenarios in Helsinki (University of Helsinki); Air-QUIS (Norway); urban air quality assessment and management: an integrated approach (ESS, Austria); and the APNEE project for providing citizen-centered air quality information dissemination (FAW-Ulm, Germany).
